Five Kano Pillars players suffered various degrees of injuries when they were attacked by armed men on their way to honour a league match earlier in the season.

Striker Gambo Mohammed, major casualty of the attack is still facing three months out according to medical doctors.

He still undergoes daily medical checks at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital while Reuben Ogbonnaya Eneji Otekpa and Murtala Adamu have returned to action.

A technical official of the club informs that Pillars have resorted to converting players to different positions as a result of shortage of playing personnel.

“With Gambo Mohammed still out, we’ve fallen short of strike force because at the moment we have only Adamu Mohammed as reliable striker available.

“Abubakar Umar has not shown enough quality and this is reason we’ve not been fieldjng him in games,” the Pillars official said.

He added: “This is why we are going for Fortune Omoniware when the week 9 window opens.

“He did well when we played Sharks on Sunday. We are also going for one striker from Taraba United.

“In all we’re looking at bringing in about four players during the transfer window :two strikers, one defensive midfielder and a central defender because since undergoing surgery to remove bullet lodged in his body during the armed attack, Reuben Ogbonnaya has been his usual efficient self as a central defender while Zango Umar is yet to hit form after a hamstring injury,” the Kano Pillars official explained.
