Tottenham manager, Mauricio Pochettino, has responded to jibes aimed at the club by his Chelsea counterpart Antonio Conte on the Fragile title ambition of the north London club as well his and his top striker Harry Kane.
Pochettino is preparing his team for the late Saturday night's International Champions Cup match against Manchester City, which kicks off at 11pm Nigerian time and spills over to the early hours of Sunday, at the Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee.
"That makes me laugh, because I don't know why people are so focused on our players and our club," Pochettino told the media in his press conference ahead of the ICC friendly game.
"At the moment, so far we know him best.
"Our ambition is not the same as a lot of clubs' that sign and spend a lot of money.
"I respect every single philosophy and, for me, the most important thing is to show more respect.
"I like to show respect to another way and the people that behave in another way, only I expect the same from the people that compete with us."
On Tottenham's lack of transfer activity so far, Pochettino said: "We are calm but we have a very clear idea of who we want and what we need to do to achieve our target.
"I want to say to our fans 'don't be worried' because today there are a lot of rumours around.
"We will move on the market, sure, and we will be competitive like last season, sure."
On being linked with want-away Everton midfielder Ross Barkley, the former Espanyol manager said:
"We'll see. That is a rumour. We'll see in the end if it's a reality because we'll see what happens, but it's another rumour now. We have different options.
"We're working very hard to try to achieve our targets and we'll see. Like other players, I cannot confirm anything,” he added.
