Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has likened his star central midfielder Moussa Dembele to Brazil, Argentina and Nigeria superstar ex-players Ronaldinho, Diego Maradona and Austin Okocha in terms of talent.
Belgium star Dembele, 30, has been in superb form lately, running the show in recent matches against Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Juventus.
“Only I can talk about him (Dembele) because I know him very well. Some people use my words to describe him as a genius. I think I told you because it’s in my book,” Pochettino told the media in his pre-match press conference ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash with Crystal Palace.
“For me I put him next to Ronaldinho, Maradona and Okocha. I was lucky to play with them.”
Pochettino played alongside Ronaldinho and Okocha at Paris Saint-Germain and Maradona for Argentina.
The Spurs manager added: “For me he’s one of the greatest talents in the history of football. It has been difficult for him with his fitness but now he’s in an amazing moment.”
