Pochettino Sympathizes With Sacked Mourinho, Dismisses United Job Rumours

Tottenham Hotspur manager, Mauricio Pochettino has stated that he remains committed to his job in the wake of Jose Mourinho’s departure from Manchester United and the rumours linking him as a possible replacement.

Mourinho was sacked from Manchester United on Tuesday following strings of poor results and with Pochettino seen as the ideal replacement at Old Trafford, the Argentine insists he is focused on delivering his best at Tottenham Hotspur.

“First of all I want to send my best wishes to him. I feel so sorry because you know very well I have a good relationship with him,” Pochettino said during his pre-match conference ahead of Tottenham’s Carabao Cup clash against Arsenal on Wednesday.

“He’s a very good friend. It’s sad news what happened to him. It’s not my business what happened at another club. I only want to send my best wishes to Jose.

“After nearly five years a lot of rumours have happened in my position as manager of Tottenham. I cannot answer this type of question because this type of rumours happen in the business.

“Always I respect a lot the opinion of everyone. When people praise me when people do not agree with me and the people who say different things.”

“We know a lot of rumours happen in football. It’s not my business what happens in another club. I am so focused on delivering my best at this football club.

“We know have to look ahead as we have very busy fixtures as we play another derby. It’s an important derby for us as it’s the quarter-final of the cup. I think all the people understand we are focused.”

“After five years what do I need to say more? From day one, not only in the coaching staff, the players a lot of rumours happen in football.”

“That is the business. I accept everything. I accept the rumours are positive and negative. I accept opinion when you win and people praise you. I accept the opinion too when we lose. That is part of our business.”
