Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has been voted the first ever UEFA Europa League Player of the Season.
The France international beat club mates Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhtaryan to the award.
Pogba’s award was handed to him in Monaco on Friday during the draw for this season’s UEFA Europa League group stage.
The 24-year-old played a pivotal role last season as United won their first ever Europa League trophy, driving the team from midfield.
Pogba crowned his efforts with the opening goal in the final against Ajax, which United won 2-0.
Incidentally, one of the other nominees Mkhtaryan scored the second goal in the final. Ibrahimovic was injured and missed the final.
