By Adeboye Amosu: Poland head coach, Adam Nawalka, has named highly rated Bayern Munich forward, Robert Lewandowski and goalkeepers, Wojciech Szczeshny (Juventus) and Lukasz Fabianski (Swansea City) and 19 others in his list of 22 overseas-based players for this month’s international friendly match against the Super Eagles of Nigeria and South Korea, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
Nawalka is also expected to release names of his home-based players for both games on Friday, March 16.
Poland and Nigeria who will feature at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia will clash at the Wroclaw Stadium on March 23..
The Poles will also face South Korea at the Silesian Stadium in Chorzow on March 27th, same day the Super Eagles are expected to take on Serbia in another tune-up game in England.
Other notable names on the list are; Borussia Dortmund right-back, Lukasz Piszczek; Grzegogz Krychowiak who plays for English Premier League club West Bromwich Albion and Monaco’s centre-back, Kamil Glik.
“With the matches in Wroclaw and in Chorzów at the Silesian Stadium, we are starting our full preparation for the World Cup in Russia,” Nawalka told the Poland Football Federation official website.
“Matches against tough opponents like Nigeria and South Korea will be a great opportunity to improve our organization of the game and check specific tactical and personal solutions.
“The selection of opponents was made in terms of optimal preparation for group matches at the World Cup.
“The composition of the team is based on players checked in previous matches of the team and maintaining the appropriate disposition in their clubs.
“We will continue to closely monitor national and international matches, aiming to increase competition for a place in the World Cup squad. The debutants will also get a chance.
“A short and intensive grouping awaits us. We want to optimally use this time and take another step to raise the level of the team.
“I will announce the list of players from the Polish league for the games on Friday, March 16.”
