Daryl Powell has expressed his delight at having key men Ben Roberts and Luke Gale fit again as Castleford prepare to face Catalans. Powell has named his 19-man squad for Saturday’s Betfred Super League Super 8s clash with the Challenge Cup winners at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle, and it sees fit-again Gale and Roberts included alongside Adam Milner.
Jamie Ellis, Kieran Gill and Calum Turner all drop out of the squad that saw off Warrington Wolves last time out and Powell is pleased to have more options as the Super 8s heat up.
He said on the Tigers’ website: “It’s been a tough year in terms of injuries and quite a few of our high-quality players have been missing for parts of the season so it’s a great time to have some selection headaches.
“That always drives players’ standards and team performance standards as a result of that. I’ve got some decisions to make and I’ll be pretty happy to be making them. We’ll have Ben Roberts and Luke Gale available this week and I’ll make a decision as we roll through the week on who starts.”
Cas sit fourth in the Super 8s ahead of the Catalans game but could move to within a point of second-place Wigan with a win over the French outfit if Warriors lose to top-of-the-table St Helens on Friday.
