Super Eagles winger, Alex Iwobi was not in action as Arsenal lost 3-1 on penalties to Atletico Madrid in their first game in the pre-season tour of Singapore on Thursday, reports Completesportsnigeria. com.
The highly entertaining game ended in a 1-1 draw after 90 minutes.
Iwobi, who is set to put pen to paper on a new five-year deal worth £70,000 a week with the Gunners only returned for pre-season duties last week and was not dressed for the game.
Luciano Vietto put Atletico Madrid who were without the likes of Antoine Griezmann, Diego Godin and José Gimenez ahead in the 41st minute.
Youngster Smith Rowe scored a superb solo goal to equalise for Arsenal a minute after the break.
In the ensuing penalty shoot-out, Atletico Madrid scored three kicks, while Arsenal couldn’t only put one inside the net.
Arsenal will next face French club, Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday.
