Leicester City manager Claude Puel says defender Harry Maguire will stay at the club amid interest from Manchester United.
Maguire has been linked persistently with a move away from the King Power Stadium and with Foxes facing Manchester United in Friday’s league opener, Puel says the 25 year old defender will not be going to Old Trafford as a Leicester City player.
“I’m confident he’s going to Manchester United, but only for a couple of hours with us,” Puel told the media ahead of the trip to the Premier League runners-up on Friday. ”
“I am happy to keep Harry and all our best players. We lost Riyad [Mahrez], he was valuable for us but was important to keep all our best players, we want to keep a good ambition.”
“We have spoken to Harry and the Chairman. We cannot change things just before a game and the transfer window.”
Puel also confirmed that James Maddison is available for selection Leicester City’s Premier League opener at Old Trafford but Papy Mendy will miss out.
He also revealed that the fitness of Jonny Evans will be assessed ahead of the game over the next 24 hours.
Evans, joined the club from West Brom and has been training at Belvoir Drive sinc Monday.
“He came back at the beginning of the week. We will see in training if he can be in the squad or not.
“For [Papy] Mendy, it is still not enough, he is still not available. Maddison is okay.”
