Leicester City boss Claude Puel has defended his decision to start striker Jamie Vardy on the bench in their 1-1 draw at Brighton. After two weeks on the sidelines through injury, Vardy was benched for Saturday’s encounter with the Seagulls and had to wait until the 56th minute to be brought into the fold.

The 31-year-old stepped up to slot home an important penalty in the 79th minute to see 10-man Leicester claim a share of the spoils on the south coast.
With some questioning why Vardy was not present from the start, Puel claims he was keen to ease the former England striker back into Premier League action following his recent lay-off. “Jamie gave us this feeling to believe in ourselves.
It was important to protect him in the first half because he was injured for two weeks, but I wanted to bring him on in the second half,” he said.
Vardy will now be looking to start Leicester’s next game when they host Puel’s former club Southampton in the Carabao Cup fourth round on Tuesday night at the King Power Stadium.Fastest Paying Betting Site in Nigeria: Grab your 140% First Time Deposit Bonus Now — www.Sportybet.Com Copyright © 2021 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
