Claude Puel has hinted that the “important” Jamie Vardy will return from his suspension to start for Leicester at Bournemouth.
The Foxes boss has been without the influential 31-year-old striker for the past three matches after he was hit with a three-game ban following a red card against Wolves last month.
That was Vardy’s first start of the campaign after Puel left him on the bench for the opening-day defeat at Manchester United because he had only just returned following England’s World Cup campaign.
He has since retired from international football so will not get any game-time under his belt during this fortnight so Puel is looking to work him hard in training to ensure he is ready to fire against the Cherries on September 15.
It seemed likely that Vardy would start on the bench at the Vitality Stadium, but Puel has suggested that might not be the case.
He said: “It will be important to have Jamie back.
“We have been working to maintain him at a good level without a game and he can do a good training session with good intensity because perhaps he will play without games for four weeks.
“That is a long time. I hope he can come back with a good fitness but I am sure about his mentality. I want him to maintain a good level of fitness.
“He was frustrated but he kept smiling and he is always a good team-mate in training.”Fastest Paying Betting Site in Nigeria: Grab your 140% First Time Deposit Bonus Now — www.Sportybet.Com Copyright © 2021 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
