Pulis Dedicates Ideye, Teammates’ Heroics To The Fans

By Izuchukwu Okosi:

Following his club’s 1-0 win over former club Stoke City on Saturday, West Bromwich Albion manager, Tony Pulis, was full of praises for his players who produced a commendable performance, capped by a Brown Ideye solitary goal cum match winner.

Pulis spoke to his club’s website following the victory and dedicated the players’ performance and team victory to the fans.

Super Eagles striker, Brown Ideye, who so nearly left the club in the January transfer window, headed home a Craig Gardner cross with less than 20 minutes on the clock at The Hawthorns.

Referee Michael Oliver disallowed what was thought to be Ideye’s second goal when he was deemed to be offside – despite Asmir Begovic spilling James Morrison’s shot at his feet.

This infuriated Pulis but nonetheless he dedicated the win to the fans.

“We looked a good team today. The one thing you have to do is make your home a fortress. The crowd was fantastic. The Stoke fans were good and our supporters rose to that and were fantastic.

“That win was for the fans. Today we played really well. It’s a sigh of relief when you need a result,” Pulis stated.

Ideye suffered a new injury in the game but the striker who missed the 2014 World Cup for Nigeria is expected to undergo a scan on Monday.

Saturday’s goal was Ideye’s seventh of the season which sees the Albions move 11 points clear of the drop zone while Stoke City remain in 8th position.
