Quadri Displaces Egypt’s Assar As Africa’s No.1 In T/Tennis

Nigeria table tennis star Aruna Quadri has been rated number one in Africa and 30th in the world.

According to a release by the International Table Tennis Federation on Sunday, Quadri usurped Egypt’s Omar Assar who dropped to second in Africa and 36th in the world.

In third position in Africa is six times Olympian Segun Toriola who is ranked 116 in the world.

Sixth on the continent is Portugal-based Bode Abiodun, who is currently rated 185 globally.

In a related development the president of African Table Tennis Federation (ATTF), Khaled El-Salhy, confirmed that it is the May ranking of the three top players in Nigeria and Egypt that will decide the eventual team that will qualify for the men’s team event of the Rio Olympic Games.
