Nigeria's Top ranked table tennis player Aruna Quadri has expressed his disappointment at his exit from the men’s doubles event, but says he is targeting title success in the men's singles, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Quadri and his Egyptian partner Omar Assar crashed out of the quarter-finals losing 3-2 (8-11, 11-5, 11-6, 8-11, 11-8) to Mohamed El-Beiali, who partnered Ahmed Ali Saleh.
"Obviously, I am very disappointed. The better players won," Quadri told Completesportsnigeria.comafter the game.
"It was a great opportunity. It didn't work out the way I wanted it, but at least I have another chance to get back into the next round of the singles event which I will give my all."
"That was one of my goals, but it's over now."
Quadri will face his compatriot Kazeem Nasiru in the round of 32 in the men's singles event on table six and he hopes to make amend by winning the tie.
"To win the singles event is my target now and I have to shake off that shock loss in due double."
Nigeria pair of Abdulrahman Abdullah and Sola Oyetayo also lost in the men's doubles 3-0 (13-11, 11-8, 11-7) to Sarthak Gandhi and Sanil Shetty.
