Enugu Rangers boosted their title hopes by recording a 3-2 away win against Akwa United at the Godswil Akpabio Stadium, Uyo on Saturday, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
The Coal City side now sit on top of the table with 46 points, three more than second-placed Wikki Tourists who are away against Niger Tornadoes on Sunday.
The Flying Antelopes raced into an early lead with Akwa United defender Harrison Ibukun diverting the ball into his own net in the third minute.
The home side pegged the visitors back late in the first half with Fortune Omoniwari scoring the equalising goal.
Rangers regained the lead on 61 minutes through a wonderful effort by Chisom Egbuchulam.
Substitute Enete Chebem made the points safe for the visitors, converting home following an assist by Godwin Aguda, while Omoniwari pulled a goal back for the hosts two minutes into added time.
In Makurdi, Nasarawa United were in devastating form, inflicting a 3-0 defeat on Sunshine Stars to end the Owena Waves' seven games unbeaten streak.
The Solid Miners started the game on a bright note with Abdulrahman Bashir heading them in front on five minutes.
