Everton midfielder Kieran Dowell has reportedly emerged as a January transfer target for Rangers. Ovie Ejaria cut short his loan at Ibrox last week and Gers manager Steven Gerrard, who believes the England Under-21 international has made a mistake, is already eyeing up a replacement for January.
The former Liverpool captain is believed to have set his sights on Everton’s Dowell and the Scottish giants are set to make a loan offer for the midfielder until the end of the campaign.
Although failing to make his mark on the Toffees’ senior side right now, the 21-year-old midfielder impressed whilst on loan at Nottingham Forest last season, where he scored nine goals from 38 Championship appearances.
Also an England Under-21 international, Dowell is being tipped to earn some valuable first-team experience in the new year and a temporary switch to Scotland could be on the cards.
Rangers are expected to make contact with Everton in the coming days before finalising the loan in January.
