Nigeria forward, Sadiq Umar will return to Italian side, AS Roma in January following Scottish outfit, Glasgow Rangers’ decision to cut short his loan spell
at the club, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Umar , 21, linked up with Rangers on a one-year loan deal at the beginning of the season, but has struggled for regular playing time at the club.
He has made just five appearances for the Light Blues and has failed to start any Scottish Premiership game during a terrible five months.
Rangers manager Steven Gerrard, according to a report in the Scottish Sun, has given the green light for Umar to leave Ibrox, even with three weeks before the transfer window opens for him to buy a replacement.
And Umar’s departure will pave the way for a January bid to land Liverpool striker Dominic Solanke on loan.
Umar previously played down talk of a January return to Italy after struggling for game-time.
Umar said: “It’s too soon to talk about movements. I am here to play football and I know it won’t be easy. It’s a privilege to work with a living legend like Steven Gerrard.
“I’m working hard in training and we’re doing the right things. It’s just too early to talk about leaving. Let’s just see how the future turns out.”Copyright © 2020 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
