Former Leicester City and Roma boss Claudio Ranieri has reportedly been contacted about the current coaching vacancy at Bordeaux. The Italian is the latest big name to be linked to the position with Thierry Henry, Jurgen Klinsmann and Laurent Blanc all said to have been under consideration in the past 48 hours.
Gus Poyet was sacked by the Ligue 1 club on Saturday evening after an ill-tempered row in front of television cameras this week.
According to Le Parisien newspaper, Ranieri’s name has also been put forward as a potential candidate for the top job at Serie A outfit Atalanta.
The 66-year-old, who has also been linked with Portuguese sleeping giants Sporting Club, was last in management at Nantes – where he was sacked at the end of last season.
Having won the Premier League in 2016, Ranieri’s reputation in France is solid after impressing with Monaco, who finished second with 80 points in his first and only season at Stade Louis II.
