Leicester City manager, Claudio Ranieri, has ruled out Kasper Schmeichel out of action for up to seven weeks due to injury.

“I don’t put a deadline on Schmeichel’s injury as everyone's different. Maybe two weeks. Maybe three, four, five six or seven.

"I’m very confident with Zieler. Of course, Kasper was in great condition but Zieler gives me confidence.”

Schmeichel who underwent a successful surgery on Thursday however revealed via his twitter handle that he'll be back soon.

"My operation went well last night. Thank you for all the messages of support. Deeply frustrating but i’ll do all I can to be back asap," he tweeted.

Ranieri whose side are 11th in the English Premier League says Nampalys Mendy is not fit for Sunday's game, while adding that Islam Slimani is fit to return after missing the midweek game with injury.

The Italian also addressed Jamie Vardy's goal drought, with the striker failing to score in his last 11 games.

"Jamie Vardy's a goalscorer. All strikers have good and bad periods. It’s important to stay calm and sooner or later he'll score.”

"I think Slimani is okay, it’s just Mendy who is out but he is getting better.

"We’re getting better but it’s not only the defenders. All the team are getting better with the fighting spirit."

"We want to keep going and improve in the table. We must try to win."

"I expect the same match as last season. A very tough match. West Brom defend and counter very well."
