Real Madrid Force Barcelona To El Clasico Draw

By James Agberebi:

Barcelona missed the chance to cut Real Madrid's lead at the top of the LaLiga table as they were held to a 1-1 draw by their rivals on Saturday.

Luiz Suarez gave Barcelona the lead but Sergio Ramos equalised on the dot of 90 minutes to secure a vital point for Madrid.

Madrid maintain their six-point lead ahead of Barcelona and have now gone 33 games unbeaten in all competitions this season.

Barcelona started the game on the front foot but couldn't put away some of the chances that fell to them.

Suarez eventually gave Barcelona a deserved 1-0 lead on 53 minutes, heading in Neymar's whipped freekick.

In the 67th minute Neymar had a very good chance to double Barcelona's lead but blasted his effort over the bar from close range.

Lionel Messi had another chance in the 82nd minute but his low shot narrowly missed the target.

On 87 minutes Sergio Ramos went close for Real Madrid only to head his effort just over the bar.

In the 90th minute Ramos made it 1-1 with a powerful header from a freekick.

Barcelona almost won it in the 93rd minute from a freekick but substitute Casemiro cleared away a goal bound effort on the line.
