Ream’s Fulham Future In Doubt

Tim Ream’s Fulham future could be in doubt as it appears he does not fit into Claudio Ranieri’s first-team plans.

The United States international has suffered a dramatic fall from grace over the last few months as he has gone from spearheading the Cottagers’ promotion to the Premier League, winning the player-of-the-season award, to being seemingly out of the first-team picture altogether.

Ream’s struggles started during the summer when a mysterious back injury saw him miss the first six matches of the new Premier League season, with Fulham struggling defensively during his absence.

However, Ream’s return has not gone to plan, with Fulham shipping 15 goals in the four league games he has started.

That led to the 31-year-old being left out for the defeats against Huddersfield and Liverpool, while he was also on the bench for Ranieri’s first game in charge – a 3-2 victory over Southampton.

Alfie Mawson and Denis Odoi were preferred by Ranieri for that match and reports are starting to emerge that the Italian could look to ship Ream out during the summer.

Fulham also have the likes of Calum Chambers, Maxime Le Marchand and Timothy Fosu-Mensah in their squad and so competition for places is high.
