Super Eagles defender, Kunle Odunlami is back in Sunshine Stars match day line-up after he was listed for the match day 23 home clash with visiting Giwa on Sunday, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Odunlami who was part of the home base Super Eagles team that won bronze medal in last year’s CHAN tournament in Cape Town, South Africa, had been sanctioned by the Akure side after he was found to have abandoned the team at Asaba, Delta State on their way to honor a league game against Enugu Rangers.
The 25-year-old center-back had boycotted the league trip in preference to a trial spell at Raja Casablanca, Morocco, a deal that is yet to materialize.
He was later handed an indefinite suspension by Sunshine Stars hierarchy with a N2.5m fine. But following a well-worded letter of apology, Odunlami’s suspension was lifted while a special appeal on his behalf by Ondo State Football Development agency, OSFA, to the management of the club ensured he was finally let off the hook.
With the league now in its business end, Sunshine Stars appear to be in need of every available player hence Odunlami was recalled for today’s game against Giwa FC.
“Odunlami is with us here in the hotel for the game against Giwa FC,” Completesportsnigeria.com was informed by a Sunshine Stars teammate on Saturday.
“He’ll play against Giwa and that will be good for the team,” the Completesportsnigeria.com source added.
