Renault boss Cyril Abiteboul believes Red Bull are “manipulating the data” about Honda engines and are still behind theirs.
Abiteboul has spoken out after Red Bull took the decision to leave Renault and become Honda’s new partner going into the 2019 Formula 1 campaign.
The Milton Keynes-based outfit have been waxing lyrical about the progress being made at Honda, who have been supplying engines to their sister team Toro Rosso for the 2018 campaign.
However, Abiteboul has broken his silence to suggest that Red Bull would have been better served by sticking with Renault.
He told Marca: “Honda is still 20 kilowatts behind us. “I know what Red Bull says but they’re hiding the facts and manipulating the data. I understand their communication strategy, but there are no facts.
“Eventually it will be seen that Honda is 20 kilowatts behind and that they have not moved from their current position.”Copyright © 2020 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
