Ighalo’s strike came in the 71st minute after he was set up by Serbian, Nemanja Pejcinovic.

  • Why is it that certain Super Eagles strikers go to the world cup, miss a sitter and then start banging goals in for their clubs left, right and centre?

Yakubu Aiyegbemi: for all his goal scoring exploits for Nigeria, the Benin born ex-Blackburn striker will sadly be most remembered for his ghastly miss against South Korea in the 2010 world cup when a simple tap in could have trickled the ball into the net.

After that episode, Yakubu will go on to have one of the most prolonged prolific period in front of goal with 17 goals in 30 appeances for Blackburn Rovers in 2011.

He would be re-invited to the national team, much to the anger of many fans.

Now, Ighalo is towing same line as he blasted wide when it was easier to score against Argentina only to start finding the back of the net every other match after the world cup.

Just like Yakubu, might this return to goal scoring form lead to the invitation of Ighalo to the national team ahead of crucial AFCON qualifiers?

Remember, Ighalo has not resigned from international football; he remains available for selection.

  • Never ighalo just they score for their but you re not coming back if roha try am ennn

  • If Ighalo want to score abeg let him return to epl and proove himself. if not he should never be invited to the super eagles. We dont need china product in our super eagles

No only Ighalo, even kelechi that freezed in front of goal, after he was gifted a loose ball in front the Argentine’s goal. Now he is banging goals in every match.

I think it is not luck but they were not psycologicaly prepared. They may have been physically fit but not prepared mentally. Musa on the other hand was prepared both physically and mentally. Ighalo especially was too eager to impress and redeem himself but ended up depressing Nigerians.

I think he should take a break from Eagles for now. Maybe come back later, when we have healed from the painful world cup exit.
