Liverpool appear to have missed out to AC Milan in the race to sign Brazilian starlet Lucas Paqueta from Flamengo.
The Reds have been linked with a swoop for the talented midfielder, while Manchester United were also keen, but it looks as though the Italians have won the day.
Some reports have claimed that the 21-year-old has already undergone a medical and a 35million euros deal is all but done between Milan and the Brazilian club.
Flamengo director of sport Carlos Noval says that is not the case but he does expect a move to be finalised sooner rather than later as negotiations continue, which would suggest Liverpool have missed out.
“It’s not a done deal with Milan yet and we prefer to talk only when things are done and dusted,” Flamengo director Noval told Tuttomercatoweb.
“We are talking Negotiations are on-going, but as far as we are concerned, they are not closed yet.
I do think it can be finalised in two weeks, though, it should be a couple of weeks, yes.”
