Côte d’Ivoire’s new coach Hervé Renard says he is very serene ahead of his debut in charge of the Elephants, who will be hosting Sierra Leone in Abidjan in their Group D opener of the Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2015 qualifiers today.
The French tactician feels ‘no pressure’ ahead of a match that they need “to approach in the best possible conditions without taking victory for granted,” as he told the media following a training session at the Félix Houphouët-Boigny Stadium on Wednesday.
Renard stressed the importance for the team to operate as a collective rather than a sum of individuals, and insisted that he will choose the best players for his starting line-up, regardless of their status.
“Everyone has an opportunity. Personally, I don’t make any difference between locals and professionals.
