The Super Falcons of Nigeria successfully defended their women's AFCON title defeating the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon in Yaounde on Sunday – fourth time in the AWCON final, to win Nigeria's 1Oth title in the history of the competition.
Completesportsnigeria.com's JOHNNY EDWARD looks at the individual performance of the Super Falcons in the encounter.
Alaba Jonathan 7/10: She was composed all through the and made fantastic saves both in the first half and the second half to keep the scoreline goalless when the Super Falcons' defence line was under intense
pressure during the encounter. She saved three goal bound shots from Cameroon's Gabrielle Onguene.
Osinachi Ohale 5/10: Had a decent game top quality defender at right back for the Super Falcons.
Onome Ebi 6/10: Looked comfortable as she marshaled the defence line for the Super Falcons, and was key in keeping the pair of Gabrielle Onguene and Gaelle Enganamouit quiet all through the game.
Ugo Njoku 6/10: Carried out the gameplan of Florence Omagbeni; man-marking Gaelle Enganamouit out from the game.
Faith Ikidi 6/10: Had a decent game but her lack of pace was seriously exposed during the encounter.
Rita Chikwelu 6/10: She bossed midfield and was busy shackling the Indomitable Lionesses in midfield. Terrific all round performance from Chikwelu who copped an injury later in the game.
Halimat Ayinde 6/10: Clearly the most industrious player on the pitch for the Super Falcons. It was her hardwork that kept the Cameroonians at bay.
Franseca Ordega 4/10: She tried to get the Super Falcons moving forward, but was completely overwhelmed by the midfield of the Indomitable Lionesses. She was however replaced by Chioma Wogu in the 64th minute of the encounter.
Asisat Oshoala 6/10: Oshoala rattled the Camerounian defence and made them nervous with her darting runs. Her threat kept the Lionesses' defence line
Ngozi Okobi 6/10: Had a very good game in playing on the flanks for the Super Falcons. It was her deflected lob that Oparanozie latched on to grab the late winner.
Desire Oparanoize 7/10: Though isolated in attack for the better part of the game, Oparanoize did put her body on the line enough to bring the team's midfielders into the game with her play. Given her quality, she could have done better overall. However, she did well to score the winner and the Super Falcons bagged their 10th AWCON title.
Chioma Wogu: cames on for Franseca Ordega and was average.
