Tennessee has banned sweepstakes casinos
Tennessee sweepstakes casinos are no longer available. SB 2136/HB 1885 was signed into law by Governor Bill Lee on May 22, 2026, and took effect immediately.
The law bans online sweepstakes-style games that use virtual, dual-currency, or multi-currency systems to replicate gambling products. This includes slot-style games, table games, bingo, lottery-style games, video poker, and unlicensed sports wagering.
Violations fall under the Tennessee Consumer Protection Act of 1977, and state regulators have authority to investigate and enforce the law. As a result, sweepstakes casinos with Sweeps Coins, promotional play, cash prize redemptions, gift card redemptions, or similar prize-based systems should are not available to Tennessee players.
Gold Coin-only social casino games may still be available where they are entertainment-only and do not offer promotional sweepstakes currency or prize redemptions.
What the Tennessee sweepstakes casino ban means
Sweepstakes casinos previously used virtual currencies such as Gold Coins and Sweeps Coins. Gold Coins were generally used for entertainment play, while Sweeps Coins or similar promotional currencies could sometimes be redeemed for prizes where allowed.
That model is now banned in Tennessee when it replicates gambling products through virtual, dual-currency, or multi-currency systems. Tennessee players should not treat sweepstakes casinos as a legal workaround for online casino play.
The remaining casino-style option is limited to Gold Coin-only social play, where available. These products should not include Sweeps Coins, cash prizes, gift cards, withdrawals, or other prize redemption features.
What legal casino-style options remain in Tennessee?
Tennessee does not allow real-money online casinos, and sweepstakes casinos are now banned. This means players should avoid platforms that offer Sweeps Coins, promotional sweepstakes currency, real-money prize redemptions, gift cards, or cashout-style features.
Gold Coin-only social casino games may still be available where they are strictly entertainment-based. These products can offer casino-style gameplay, but they should not provide prize redemptions or any form of gambling-style payout.
Before creating an account, check the platform’s Tennessee terms, currency rules, and redemption policy. If a site offers dual-currency sweepstakes play, it should not be treated as available in Tennessee.

Hard Rock Jackpot Planet has been around for a while, launching way back in 2017, and it’s one of those app-only platforms available on iOS or Android for download. The Hard Rock branding makes it legit, which matters when you’re deciding where to play. They feature in-house exclusive titles brought over from their land-based casinos, so you may recognize a few of the titles.
They are a social casino operating on Gold Coin-only gameplay, and you get 10,000,000 Gold Coins when you sign up. You play for fun, rack up extra Gold Coins, and enjoy the slots with no purchases necessary. They’re available across most of the United States, including Tennessee, so you don’t need to worry about state restrictions blocking you out.
Support is decent enough with email and phone if you need them, though I usually just figure things out myself through the FAQ section. If you want the Hard Rock name attached to your casino play and a full app-only experience, it does this well.

They are a social casino, so you will be playing with Gold Coins. To get new players started, they give you 100,000 Gold Coins as a welcome bonus after the sign-up process. Once signed up, you can start on the over 300 games from top providers like Hacksaw, Playson, and Novomatic.
The bonuses do not stop at the welcome offer. They give players a reason to come back with perks like a daily spin bonus, refer-a-friend rewards, and social media giveaways. FreeSpin launched in late 2025, so they are still pretty new to the social casino scene. They run as a social casino offering Gold Coin-only casino-style games, making them available in most United States states, including Tennessee. What really grabbed my attention is their library, with over 1,200 casino-style games all ready to go even though the platform is fresh.
To get players started, they offer a welcome bonus of 200,000 Gold Coins and 20 free spins on the Gorilla slot. That is just the start, as you can log in daily to claim a login bonus. It has a nice twist, too, as you pick a box instead of just spinning a wheel. On top of the login bonus, you can expect to find daily missions. These give your gameplay a bit of direction as you try to hit certain multipliers or spins on specific games for additional bonuses.
Support runs 24/7 through email, phone (toll-free), and live chat, which helps when you hit a snag. If you want to give one of the new kids on the block a go with its extensive gaming library, follow the links on this page to claim your welcome bonus.

How Gold Coin-only social casino play works
Gold Coin-only social casino games are designed for entertainment. Players may receive Gold Coins or the brand equivalent to play casino-style games, but those Gold Coins should not be redeemable for cash, gift cards, or prizes.
This is different from sweepstakes casino play. If a platform offers Sweeps Coins, promotional sweepstakes currency, mail-in entries for redeemable currency, or prize withdrawals, it should not be treated as available in Tennessee under the 2026 sweepstakes casino ban.
How to sign up at a legal social casino in Tennessee
Most social casinos follow the same basic sign-up process, and it only takes a few minutes. Many platforms let you link a Google or Facebook account to speed things up. Here are the steps you’ll typically go through:
- Pick Your Platform:
Choose a social casino that fits your style and follow the banners on this page to get to their site.
- Find the Sign-Up Button:
Go to their site or download the app from Google Play or the Apple App Store. The “Sign Up,” “Register,” or “Join Now” button is usually in the top right corner.
- Fill In Your Details:
Enter your basic information — your full legal name, email address, and date of birth to confirm you meet the minimum age requirement.
- Verify Your Identity:
Check your inbox for a verification link from the operator to activate your account. Some platforms also ask for a quick SMS check, where you’ll enter an OTP code sent to your phone.
- Claim Your Welcome Package:
Log into your new account and your free Gold Coins or virtual currency will be added to your balance automatically. From there, you’re ready to jump into the games.
Sweepstakes casino rules vary by state
Sweepstakes casino laws vary across the US, but Tennessee now has a clear statewide ban. SB 2136/HB 1885 specifically targets online sweepstakes-style games that replicate gambling through virtual, dual-currency, or multi-currency systems.
This means Tennessee should not be grouped with states where sweepstakes casinos remain available. Any state comparison content should clearly mark Tennessee as banned for sweepstakes casinos.
Tennessee sweepstakes casinos are no longer available
Tennessee no longer allows sweepstakes casinos. The state’s new law, SB 2136/HB 1885, took effect immediately after Governor Bill Lee signed it on May 22, 2026. It bans sweepstakes-style casino products that use virtual, dual-currency, or multi-currency systems to replicate gambling and offer prize redemptions.
As a result, Tennessee players should not use sweepstakes casinos as an online casino alternative. Real-money online casinos are also not legal in the state. The only casino-style option that may remain is Gold Coin-only social play, where available, with no promotional sweepstakes currency and no prize redemption.
