Trainer Nicky Richards feels Simply Ned is a real contender ahead of the Paddy’s Rewards Club “Sugar Paddy” Chase at Leopardstown. Simply Ned won the Group One race last year after finishing second to Min, with the stewards reversing the result.
The 11-year-old has a good record at Leopardstown having only failed to score a top three finish in one of five outings at the circuit, and Richards is in confident mood ahead of the race on December 27.

“He’s in great form. He did a bit of work earlier in the week and I was very happy with him,” said Richards, as reported by Sky Sports. “Whatever takes him on will know they’ve had a race. He’s well capable of mixing it with those big boys.
“I was just saying to someone the other day, every time he gets beaten he seems to be beaten by a superstar. “He never lets us down and we’re looking forward to running him again.”
Simply Ned was last seen when finishing second to Sceau Royal in last month’s Cheltenham Chase.
