Rio 2016 Rowing: Nigeria’s Ukogu Through To Quarter-finals

One of Nigeria's rower, Chierika Ukogu has advanced to the quarter-finals of the women's Rowing event of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games  Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

Competiting in heat 5, the 23 year old American born rower finished third with a time of 8:35:34 behind Austria's Lobnig Magdalena who came first with a time of 8:26:38 and Czech's Topinkova Miroslava in second with a time of 8:29:90.


Ukogu is  currently ranked 15th after the heats.

Bulgaria's Neikova Rumyana holds the world record with a time of 7:07.71. She achieved that feat at the Seville 2002 Championship.

Zenith Ziva

The Olympic record holder is Rutschow Karim with a time of 7:18.12.
