Bath star Jamie Roberts says he has not given up all hope of reviving his international career with Wales. The 31-year-old has made just one appearance for his country in the last 14 months, but the powerful centre says he has no intention of giving up just yet.
Roberts left Harlequins for their Gallagher Premiership rivals Bath earlier this summer and, after a full and uninterrupted pre-season training block, he is ready to prove he is worthy of a recall to the Wales set up.
“The last six months have been tough, but I think in sport you want to be challenged and for me this is one of the biggest challenges of my career,” he said.
“When you are in something (international rugby) for quite a while – then you find yourself out of it – getting back into it is one of the biggest goals.
“I am going to face it head-on and I can’t wait to get stuck into the season and give it my best shot. Guys have come in and done well raising the bar. It’s up to me to raise the bar again with my performances for Bath and I am going to keep knocking on the door.
“When you miss out on something, you can try and hide it as much as you want, but you want it even more again. I’ve desperately missed it and I am going to desperately try to get back in.
“I know that I won’t get anywhere near that unless I perform in a club jersey and the only way I perform in a club jersey is being the best professional I can and giving everything on the weekend.”Fastest Paying Betting Site in Nigeria: Grab your 140% First Time Deposit Bonus Now — www.Sportybet.Com Copyright © 2021 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
