Bristol City are set to join Blackburn in the race to sign Southampton midfielder Harrison Reed before the loan deadline this week. Despite making his first-team debut over five years ago, Reed has always been on the periphery at the club where he came through the academy at and looks set to depart on loan once again.
He spent last season on loan at Norwich City, playing 39 times in the Championship, and scoring one goal in his first season of regular football.
The 23-year-old was linked with a move to Blackburn after the arrival of Celtic midfielder Stuart Armstrong pushed him further down the pecking order at St Mary’s, but reports claim Bristol City boss Lee Johnson is looking to hijack the deal.
Reed only made 30 appearances for Southampton between 2013-2017 but is still regarded highly at the club as they are only keen for him to depart on loan rather than a permanent deal.
