Rohr Hails Super Eagles Positive Attitude, Mental Strength

Super Eagles’ Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr has attributed Nigeria's 3-1 win over Algeria in Saturday's 2018 World Cup qualifier to the team's positive attitude, discipline, dedication, good team spirit and mental strength, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

Rohr disclosed during a courtesy call to the President of the Nigerian Football Federation,  Amaju Pinnick earlier on Monday at the NFF Secretariat a media release from the communications department stated.

"A positive attitude has helped us thus far, and I also want to commend the players for their discipline and dedication, and very good spirit in camp. They have been excellent," Rohr remarked.

"The mental strength is also there, because if you have to survive in such a difficult group, you need very good mental strength and focus.

"We have shown in the first two matches that we have the personnel and the good spirit to go all the way."

The German tactician also stated that the Super Eagles must be well prepared to face Cameroon in their next game in nine months.

"We must prepare very hard for Cameroon, even though that is still nine months away. The Lions are a good team and we must be at our best."

  • Our midfield is a major problem , while we concentrate on defence trying to tackle our defensive lapses . We forget that our midfield was really exposed against algeria . Watch that match again and we will see that onazi was a shadow of himself in that match , he was definitely no where to be found. If not for etebor who covered so well for him , the result would have been a different thought against us .
The midfield was not compactible and if a player is beaten at the middle , the opposing team do have  enough space to create more chance and pass to space . Bentaleb's goal showed off what i mean , everyone went on riyad leaving enough space for bentaleb to position himself and shoot confortably ..
We need a tall and buzzing midfielder who can shade attackers and block spaces to avoid such passes in the nearest games ,bring on Ogu,Esiti,if possible ndidi .. maybe the midfield will improve.
Do not expect miracle from iheanacho as long as we played him in an  unfancied { fake 9} we need strikers who will hold on to the  ball and allow our talents to explore the space in an opposing 18yards to get the desired result , This team would have failed against Zambia  .  Gernot rohr did a fantastic job no doubt but so much work is still need to be done , mostly in the midfield .
