Rohr Inisists On No Replacements For Absentee Iwobi, Aina, Ekong

By Johnny Edward:
Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr will not call up replacements for the trio of Alex Iwobi, Ola Aina and William Troost Ekong who pulled out of Nigeria’s 2019 Africa Cup Of Nations qualifier against Seychelles, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

Musa Mohammed, Blessing Eleke and Stephen Eze were reportedly called up to fill the void left by the absence of the trio, but an impeccable camp source revealed to CSN that the coach is confident in the players in camp despite the absence of the three players.

Mohammed, Eleke and Eze were named as standby players by Rohr for the game.

“No replacements will be called up as the timing is pretty too short, and besides those positions are well covered with the players in camp who could play in more than one role comfortably,” the source revealed.

Meanwhile, the Super Eagles will hold their first training sessions today (Wednesday) ahead the Saturday’s game.

The Super Eagles are looking to bag their first win of the Group E in the AFCON qualifying series when they face Seychelles on Saturday at the Linite Stadium having lost their first game 2-0 to South Africa.

But this is very wicked on the part of Gernot Rohr, not to have invited the players on stand by. Why did he place them on stand by, when he knew that even if the opportunity present itself he was not going to invite them, he just raised their hopes and dashed it at the last minute, if not for anything, for the sake of their carrier he should have still invited them, that will go a long to help their carrier and boost their confidence. its very heartless of the coach to have done that.

    • @irabor kingsley That coach Rohr is a imbecile I concur with you but, in future check your spelling bros it’s “Career” not Carrier

Countless times will I repeat that there’s more behind the exclusion of Musa. If this Musa was a German with his defensive and high attacking instinct plus impeccable speed he would go ahead to be top 10 right back like Kimmich. Placing him on standby and not inviting him tells the bull crap going on at the technical crew. I am not a critics but certain truth is very clear to see this is an ex captain whose exploit with the national team would have helped his career to showcase his God given talent

Hy guys we don’t need to insult GR before making our points, some of us here will agree with me that he  may be older than our biological fathers if u can insult a man who is old enough to be your father for no just cause,no verbal assault neither physical contact (majority of us here ve not seen him face to face) then am afraid ur moral upbringing needs to be checked,we should do away with d mentality of insult n make our points,,on musa I recall vividly wen GR was hired in 3consective matches he was invited guys here criticized him for inviting inactive player,he must have watched him closely before making his decision presently GR has criteria for his defenders which height is included, who knows?all am saying is musa is not better than brain/omeruo in d rb position also he is not part of d team for a while now if he keeps improving gradually he will be integrated into d team lets not call for players out of sentiment or past glory n d match is not one for experimenting

    • Thank you for your maturity

Musa Muhammad is a right back what business has he got to do with Brian idowu and Omeruo most of you just come here and Express nothing but zero knowledge. Always check facts watch YouTube read assessment before coming here to speak rather than creating a scene of arguments and funny is how you get support for your poor assessment birds of same feather

      • Chidi 3 years ago

At Davidson bro idowu is a natural right foot dude n prior to d worldcup he said shehu has made d rb position his own bcos of his duggedness so he will ve to fight for d lb position, omeruo was a natural rb at ado Dan hag before he was converted to center back by keshi during d 2013 anc,so wat facts r u talking about?my dear d coach has made his decision n dats final take it or live it,if u ve a better knowledge of football than we here kudos to u work on it perharps one day u will be a renowned football pundit or world class coach but still doesn’t give u d right for those negative outburst

Chidi if in a super eagles shehu who happens to be no4 plays 2 then there is a problem and when was the last time Brian or Omeruo played 2. Our natural 2s are Musa and Ebuehi. Bro the truth is that you know nothing about the round leather game and like minded fellows like you will eat your pie. Take or leave it Musa is the best 2 after which comes Ebuehi I wish a better country takes him just like Austria did with Alaba who is the second best left back in the world after Marcelo since our super eagles scouts are only waiting complete sports to scout for them.

At Chima dude permit me to say u sound funny,1st ve always voiced my opinion on shehu playing d rb 4eagles (yobo was once a striker b4 he was converted to a defender)hope u know,is it difficult for u to understand my view?2 points y musa was not called up 1 d coach feels he is not better than d ones in camp,2 he needs to be integrated to d team not in a competitive match,(bonfere joe once took d risk against Liberia during 2002 wrlcdcup qualification n it paid off yobo was a beast in d field n frustrated George weah beside he was playing week in/out for anderletch then)it all boils down to who d coach trust,am only trying to feel d coaches opinion I don’t have anything against musa, once a soldier is always a soldier, now am in if u want us to be personal against musa- u guys claim he is good y is he not playing fool 90minutes for his club in Croatia atleast we all know dere league is an average league in Europe, mayb he is older than he claims or he is not good enough talent is like pregnancy u can’t hide it even d whiteman know,GR understands African football better than u n I so let’s trust his judgement beside he is in charge,

          • Chidi 3 years ago

Sry I mean to say full 90minis,n believe u me musa can never smell d rb once ebuehi/alma r fit lets not overate an average player

  • Chairmanfemi 3 years ago

Am always the No.1 fan of Coach GR and Super Eagles but my question is Does Coach GR know the meaning of stand-by players? If yes, Why then did he place some players on stand-by when he knew he was never going to invite them to the team when the needs warrant as such as the Situation we have on ground now?

    • Chidi 3 years ago

It’s crystal the standby players were imposed on him, bobo na niaja we de na u suppose understand

  • Chika Andrew 3 years ago

Heheheee!!! With Ighalo and Idowu, Coach Rohr is good to go.

  • Is it the same musa Muhammad dat was a bench warmer in turkey,or is it another musa dat is beta than ebuehi.he should first find his feet at his club gorica,i wonder how he has suddenly become the world best right back.as for those of u saying omeuro is a right bck u are wrong he started out as a center bck right from his u17 days,he was only used as a rb in Holland by his manager.brian idowu is also a CB but can play at(Rb,LB,CB,andDM).

  • Chima E Samuels 3 years ago

Musa misfortune is attributed to what most Nigerian players face when you have the wrong agent so he can not be judged by the treatment from the Turkish club let’s wish him well with his new Croatia club and see how far he goes. The case rests here as the search of a proper no2 weighs on because Aina is an average player and sad to see Ebuehi injured.

    • Dr. Drey 3 years ago

@ Chima Samuels……clap for your self….and please clean the left side of your mouth with your handkerchief for the lies you just told us. Istanbul BB is not a small club in turkey, thats Emma Adeboyor’s club as a matter of fact. What has agent got to do with Musa mohammed not being able to make the main team of IBB…? He was sent on loan to croatia or slovenia or whereva…same story. Now he’s playing for one back-water club in an unknown league… This same Musa muhammed couldnt make the Rio U23 olympics team under siasia, yet in your eyes…he is far better than dani alves and everybody in the SE as if you are always there with them in training. but it is still this same you…yes…YOU, that will come here and insult SE players and refer to them a mediocre players playing in medioocre clubs. Weldone ehn…pls clap for yourself once more.

  • Well everyone here has a fair point. 1) GR is d coach and knows what he wants. 2) Musa has been inactive and can’t tie down a spot at lowly rated clubs/leagues.

Like K. Nwakali, the Musa that played against Atletico Madrid, in my opinion, is good enough for SE regardless of his club status. Just my opinion…he’s a very good right back, good crosses, shots and through passes. Maybe GR feels that a competitive game is not the platform to test him…who knows?

  • Ayphillydegreat 3 years ago

I really fair for Musa Muhammed. I hope he can at least be playing week in week out in his present club in Croatia. I think all he needs is confidence because the Musa I saw against Atletico is definitely good enough for the SuperEagles. However, for now I will take Aina ahead of him because Ola plays for Torino in the Scudetto. Idowu already have a WorldCup experience so he’s ahead of Musa in the pecking order at the moment. Please Shehu is not better than Musa at RB. Shehu is a DM by trade and should be used there. If Shehu can not displace anybody in the Midfield then he should be left out of the SuperEagles completely. Aina and Idowu are the only natural RB ahead of Musa and I hope if he can get his club football back on track, he’s definitely going to be a mainstay in the SuperEagles.

  • Ayphillydegreat 3 years ago

  • Same Musa Mohammed that has only played 3 minutes in one match and 15 minutes in another this season? The Bryan Idowu plays Right back for his club but has not played one minute for his club.

There is a right back, Seth Sincere who has played all 90 minutes in 4 games in the same Turkey. Seth was part of the Under 23 bronze medal Olympic team in Rio.
