Uyo that has great fan base and one of the best turfs… and you are leaving it for kaduna and later excuses will come that the grass was bad.

  • Jones 3 years ago

    Hopefully no Ighalo and Onazi.

  • Edoman of New Jersey Jersey. 3 years ago

Please Rohr, forget about Ighalo and Onazi as Mr. Jones indicated above. Show Nigerians that you have learnt a lesson or two in your World Cup experiences in Russia this summer.

  • Chidi 3 years ago

Hy guys lets voice out our opinion on d yet to be released list no onazi, ighalo,Joel obi, inject kele nwakali,d Huddersfield dm,n GR should get some players from d championship we ve lots of them there he should catch them now not when they ve blown to stars we will start begging them, one thing about football is even a layman can identify a star,

  • Chairmanfemi 3 years ago

Say NO to Ighalo,Onazi and Echejile. As for Joel Obi, he should only be invited if he agrees to play LB position cuz we only have Idowu and he(Joel Obi) played very well while trying to support Idowu on his debut against Poland. I will also appreciate it if Stanley Amuzie is invited cuz he’s doing well in Switzerland. I believe he will add more options to the Left back position

  • ako amadi 3 years ago

Ighalo is currently the highest goal-scorer in the Chinese League. The Nigerian team must be picked on current form and not on ancient history. Please stop selecting the Super Eagles on tribal quota basis on the pages of Complete Sports.

    • ako amadi, ighalo only scores against easy Chinese opposition. He has not scored for the Super Eagles this year in 10 matches and his current score rate is 4 goals in 22 matches or one goal per year. Make he rest joor. Our best strikers right now are Akinyemi Adeleke, Henry Onyekuru and Anthony Nwakaeme in that order. Add Ahmed Musa for experience and form

      • ako amadi 3 years ago

But Strikers have what they call “goal drought” sometimes.. Every day no be Christmas! The big strikers like Messi and Aguero, Jesus, Lewandowski failed woefully at the World Cup as well. Good Times, Bad Times, that’s life. But never write anybody entirely off

        • Ako, his goal drought has lasted for the whole of 2018 and is consistent with the Super Eagles. One goal per year is not a goal drought, it’s a statistic that is consistent over 4 years. He just doesn’t do it for the SE. He only scores against weak Chinese opposition. Not against Zambia, Cameroon, Algeria not against Argentina, Iceland, Croatia nor any quality opposition

        • Invite ayegbeni den maybe he wil ve a good day

    • Paschal 3 years ago

How many of those goals are penalty kicks? Are you counting those as goals too?

I saw this on another sport site and i’d love to share it.

AFCON 2019 Qualifiers – Rohr Calls Up Musa Muhammed As Replacement For Injured Duo Ebuehi & Abdulahi

Former captain of the Nigeria U17 and 20 team
Musa Muhammed has been called up to the
Nigerian team for their upcoming AFCON 2019
    Qualifiers tie against Seychelles,
    Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal.
Musa who recently moved to Croatian side HNK
Gorica will make up for the absence of the
injured first choice duo of Tyronne Ebuehi and
Shehu Abdullahi who are both out of the game.

The former Istanbul Basaksehir full back won
the heart of coach Gernot Rohr with his strong
display for the B team of Nigeria in the 2-3
friendly loss against Atletico Madrid shortly
    before the World Cup.

Furthermore he played in Rohr’s first game,
which was against Tanzania before losing his
spot to the duo of Ebuehi and Abdullahi, no
thanks to his inactivity in Turkey back then with
    Istanbul Basaksehir.

  • Super Eagles : Department by Department

Any suggestion of names has always been merely academic for me. The coach, as you would expect, already haS in mind the players he intends to invite to prosecute crucial Afcon qualifiers.

At the moment, looking at the Super Eagles department-by-department, I just want to, in my own head, examine which departments have skills shortages and those which require greater competition.

    1) Goalkeeping Department:

Uzoho had a impressive World Cup however I am unsure of how active he has been since then. All I read about is how he is trying to secure his long-term club future. I have not been keeping tabs on Ajiboye or Ezenwa either.

However, Akpeyi has been active (and impressive) for Chippa United post-Russia 2018. That said, the ex-U 21 international is “not highly favoured” in the Super Eagles set up so may not be invited.

VERDICT: The goalkeeping department has vacancies that need to be filled.

    Defence Department:

Injuries to Ebuehi and Shehu coupled with the retirement of Moses leave the left right wing-back position in severe shortage of manpower.

The left wing-back position is not fairing better as Idowu is not a natural left-back and Echijile is widely not expected to return (whether he voluntarily retires or not).

    The central defence is o.k.

VERDICT: Left and Right back positions have vacancies.

    Midfield Department:

Since the retirements of Okocha and Oruma, the central/attacking midfield of the Super Eagles lost a sort of class and creativity that has appeared difficult to recreate.

Sunday Mba gave a glimse of those creative contents vs Ivory Coast and Burkina Faso in 2013 but that was as good as it got.

Mercifully, the same cannot be said of the defensive midfield where we have suitable candidates aplenty.

    Attack Department:

Putting the miss against Argentina at the World Cup aside, Ighalo has proved over 2 seasons that he is not the one to be trusted with goal scoring responsibilities for Nigeria (4 goals in 22 appearances is abysmal).

The inconsistent and developing Iheanacho even has a better goals-per-games ratio for the Super Eagles and may well be now looked upon to fill the mammoth goal-scoring boots for Nigeria.

Down the flanks, Nigeria is spoilt for choice. The names rolled off the tongue so easily: Kalu, Ezekiel, Musa, Moses, Igboun, Nwakeme etc and others.

VERDICT: We need a clinical and dependable goal scorer fast.

The departments that need attention at this time are: goalkeeping, right and left full/wing backs, attacking midfield and main striker posisitions.

    • Right side of defence we have 3.Omeruo and Mohammed Musa and maybe F Obilor, Left side of defence we have 4. Balogun and Okwuosa (Chippa captain), central defence 2. Troost/Awaziem

Right wing back 11. Samuel Kalu and Ola Aina Central Midfield (defensive) 5. Ndidi and Anderson Esiti (Gent Belgium), Uche Agbo (Standard Liege)

Offensive midfield there Is 6. John Oguh, Etebo to the left and right of 8. Iwobi/Kelechi Nwakali maybe pushed by Abdul Ajagun (under 17 former captain) kortjik on standby. Finally front 4 left to right 7. Igbekeme (Zaragoza)/Idowu, Central strikers 9. Musa/Nwakaeme 10. Akinyemi/Onyekuru and right flank 11. S Kalu/O Aina/Kingsley Sokari (Sfaxia Tunisia) Competition for every starting place in the Super eagles , none of them bench warmers for their teams and each bringing value to the team

      • Dr. Drey 3 years ago

Thank God you are not the coach of the SE. I’m really happy you are not

  • Walking 3 years ago

Na we they clamor for Musa Mohammed oo..
Although, he seems to be the only option we have for now..
    My suggested list.
    Uzoho, Ajiboye, Ezenwa.
Ola Aina, Musa Mohammed, Troost, Balogun, Omeruo, Eze, Idowu.
    Ndidi, Ogu, Etebo, Iwobi, Nwakali.
    Musa, Iheanacho, Onyekaru, Ighalo.

Haba!Against Seychelles, an island not bigger than Victoria Island, a country that has not won anything in Africa, Gernot Rohr must take the opportunity to try fringe players, and give the entire World Cup Russia squad a rest. This is the time for us to see the Akinyemis, Onyekurus, Sadiqs, Musa, and Successes and Nwakalis and company. It’s a costly overkill to carry Nigeria’s first eleven to invade the island of Seychelles. Like killing a fly with a sledgehammer!

    • Dr. Drey 3 years ago

That was what other teams thought of Iceland in the Euros and they paid dearly for it. Competitive gave is competitive game. Land mass or population does not play foortball, otherwise, China, USA and India should be rotating the world cup amongst themselves

    • Ako, we need to qualify first. Points on the board. Yes test fringe players once the goals are in. Start with the strongest side, square pegs in square holes, left footed players to the left (John Oguh (comfortable with both feet) Joel (leftie) sub. Use players who are doing well at their clubs and not bench warmers.

Success is a benchwarmer has played maybe an average of 20 minutes a game, and over the past two years has been off injured Moreno than he has played, let him prove himself fit first. He’s probably my 10th choice striker for this game

Sadiq also has been playing bit part for Glasgow Rangers and is inconsistent

I gree Akinyemi, Onyekuru, Musa as three of the 4 strikers (starting and bench) 4th person I’ll choose is Nwakaeme who used to play with Oguh in Isreal before he moved recently. Those 4 have been banging in the goals since July and should do good against light opposition.

The Nwakali brothers also. Kelechi pushing Iwobi for a central midfielder place and Chidiebere providing cover for our back three of Troost, Balogun and Omeruo. With other subs Awaziem and Okwuosa. Standby in case of injury can be Obilor.

Kill the mosquito first before it disturbs your sleep

  • Best lineup
    LW, etebo,
    RW, simon.
    CAM, iwobi
    CM, ogu
    DM, ndidi
    DEFENCE..olaina, omeruo, balogun, ekong.

Good day my people. It’s a brand new day Alhamdulilah.

My point of view, I read almost of the comments based on this topic and I can say it confidently that Nigerians have no confidence in this coach.

Is Mr. Pinnick and his crew can qualify Nigeria to the next year Afcon in Cameroon and even go ahead and win the tournament?

Do we have a team or we are just deceiving ourselves?

Do we have players who can get the job done for the team and even, does mr. Rohr believe in these players?

Do we think Victor Moses that stopped playing for Nigeria doesn’t know what he was doing before the announcement of his retirement?

This is Nigeria. Hmmm, I love my country but we have bad people who doesn’t care of this nation.

However, my main concerned is not about Afcon because at worst, 3rd position is sure for Eagles. We don’t have what it takes when we are talking about global tournaments because our coaching staffs have no knowledge of football. All they do is push and go.

We never seen it America, in Europe using black coaches for their national teams, why us?
African leaders needs to wake up and invest in our sports. Flesh doesn’t play football but brane does.

Lastly, the best solution for NFF is to prepare two of our young indigenous
Coaches for the head coach and assistant coach and two young goalkeeper trainers future the fure because the current coaches have failed and sooner or later, more players will stop playing for Nigeria.

The truth is very bitter to some of us here on this forum but I can’t do without facing the truth because I want the best of the best for Super Eagles. God bless Nigeria!!!

    • Dr. Drey 3 years ago

      hahahahaha…..lwkm o.

“Lastly, the best solution for NFF is to prepare two of our young indigenous
Coaches for the head coach and assistant coach and two young goalkeeper trainers for the future because the current coaches have failed and sooner or later, more players will stop playing for Nigeria”

So bros, Indigenous coaches have not coached the SE before abi…???
I just cant stop laughing at some comments sha…….

  • Omo9ja 3 years ago

I meant to say, two young goalkeeper trainers for future purpose. In total, Eagles need four coaches. Those are the areas NFF needed to look into if they really mean the business. But to be honest, NFF won’t do it because we like OYINBO coach to our own indigenous coach. God bless Nigeria!!!

  • Prince 3 years ago

I hate commenting on people’s comments because I believe everyone has his own opinion but sometimes when our emotion override our sense of reasoning, our opinion becomes faulty, we missed out on two afcon back to back with indigenous coaches who can be regarded as the best we have, the third one ran away when the going gets tough, the last Africa nation cup for indigenous players we where coach by indigenous coach yes we manage to get to the finals but no body can believe what happened, so why blame the NFF board for going for a foreign coach as you said colour don’t mean so why can’t it be a white man?pinnck himself says it was a gambling which pays off, please let’s support the team as even the nwankali we where all clamouring for is now in Porto B not the A team, so what are we not saying,

  • Sunnyb 3 years ago

Igbekeme must be included in that list, that guy nah confirmed baller, strong on the ball, tireless player.

  • I will like Mr Rohr to invite Joshua Maja, Nwakali brothers, Jordan Ibe, Our homebase wingback, Ikouwem, Umar Sadiq and Chuba Akpom to the super eagles

  • Chairmanfemi 3 years ago

Ikouwem Udoh is the captain of Flying Eagles and i think if he’s invited to play for Super Eagles-competitive match, he won’t be able to continue with the U-20’s in the U-20 AFCON and World cup and who is this MAJA that you guys are saying sef

  • Igbekeme muxt be included on dat lizt, de dude iz wat we need.

  • See as they are all mentioning names. don’t know their problem with players selection when we have coach. Umar Sadiq who has not play since he joined Ranger and later they will start blaming the coach.

    • Tayo talking as if you have never mentioned any name you feel will be of great help to the national team in this forum before… mtcheeew. Even @greenturf, after making jest of people that has mentioned different names, he still stylishly said his own candidate… Funny

  • Greenturf 3 years ago

I laugh at some of the names mentioned here for invitation.let us thank God we are not the coach.
Hopefully,Rohr should invite good players.I heard Semi Ajayi of Rotherham was sent an invite,if the story is true then it’s a good development.
Leave further comment until list is released.

Complete Sports the premier sports newspaper of Nigeria has still not released the Super Eagles squad for Seychelles while the other news media have done so. Why? What is CS waiting for?
