Rohr To Invite Three New Players For Super Eagles Vs Zambia Clash

By Richard Jideaka, Abuja:

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr is planning to bring in three new players to fight for spots for the October 7 World Cup qualifier against Zambia in Uyo, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

The Chairman of the Technical and Development Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Christopher Green told Complete Sports that Rohr said if it were possible, he would retain the same squad that beat Cameroun last month.

“Rohr has yet to send me the list of players for the game against Zambia but I am sure he will do that before the end of the week,” Green told Completesportsnigeria.com. “The list will be made public after perusal and input by the technical committee.

“He told me that he would like to retain the team that beat Cameroon but will likely bring in two or three additional players to make up for loss of form and injuries. We are on course to qualify for Russia 2018.”

Green who is also the chairman of the Rivers State Football Association added: “The coach has been monitoring our players scattered all over Europe and elsewhere and I trust him to invite players who are in form and play regularly.”

The Super Eagles are top of African qualifying Group B with 10 points from from four matches and need only three points to qualifier. Zambia are second behind Nigeria with seven points and a win over Nigeria will throw the group open.

I guess one of those players will be Vincent Enyeama

    • Golatilo 4 years ago

Vin Enyeama is a retired footballer. We might as well invite Peter Rufai. You can’t be referring to Vinvent as a new footballer, can you?

@Golatilo Funny you, our man is coming back to his town Uyo to stand inbetween the sticks for Nigeria and Zambian gonna cry like the Lions of Cameroon.
Take it or leave it Nigeria 4 v 0 Zambia

I want to see that Dressers Cyriel of Utrech, the Netherlands. in the Super Eagles. I love his movement and speed on the ball. Thank God we don’t need all these FIFA paperworks to get him.

Vincent Enyeama and this guy Cyriel Dessers of FC Utrecht in the Netherlands who alerted coach Gernot Rohr and the NFF of his availability for the Super Eagles.

As it stands ahmed musa should be dropped judging by his enability to get game times in leicester city. Henry onyekuru, cyriel dessers or bonaventure dennis should be called to replace him. Rohr sticking with the team that played against cameroon will be a good decision cus it will afford the team more time to train together which will boast the team’s understanding and coerssion. I think rohr is on the right part to achieve something great with the super eagles.

No hard feelings but I think these players should be invited to fight for a place in the team including Musa too. Obviously, we will have a bunch of wingers to choose from… Iwobi, Moses, Moses, Henry, Dennis, Success, Musa.. Dessers and Onachu should be given a chance to prove themselves too.

Rohr and the nff should try to approach wolfsburg’s youngstar with nigerian heritage ohis felix udokhai. He is a defender who is versatile ie can play as a left back or centre back. He is highly rated in German football circle. Also jordan torunarigha of hertha berlin should be sounded out. Learnt his father adviced him against accepting a call up from nigeria but i think the nff n rohr should pay him a visit after the zambian match. I believe the lure to play at the fifa worldcup next year will be difficult for the lad to reject whereas though highly rated in germany his chances of making it to the world cup with german team is very slim
