Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has ruled out Ikechukwu Ezenwa from the squad to face Algeria in Saturday's 2018 World Cup qualifier in Uyo over the goalkeeper's lack of playing time at club level, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Rohr expressed his doubts over the fitness level of the FC Ifeanyiubah goalkeeper whom he says he hasn't been in action for his club lately.
The German tactician also revealed that he was disappointed not to see Ezenwa in action in Sunday's Federations Cup final.
Rohr hinted journalists during a media parley session in Uyo that he will opt for players who have been active for their respective teams and not the inactive ones ahead of Saturday's game.
"I am confident in all three goalkeepers in camp. Akpeyi is playing regularly and so too Alampasu. I attended the Federation Cup final to seeEzenwa play, but was disappointed he was not played. I’ve never seen him play a game live," Rohr began.
"I maintain I cannot feature players who have stayed six weeks without action. It’s unfortunate but that’s how it is."
While Daniel Akpeyi may get the nod to make his fifth appearance in goal for the Super Eagles due to his experience, Dele Alampasu is expected to deputize for him.Fastest Paying Betting Site in Nigeria: Grab your 140% First Time Deposit Bonus Now — www.Sportybet.Com Copyright © 2021 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
