Rohr: Super Eagles Need NFF, Sports Ministry Solidarity To Progress

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr hopes that a peaceful coexistence of the Nigeria Football Federation and the Sports Ministry hierarchies will be restored before the New Year in order to give the national team and Nigerian fòotball a condusive atmosphere for further developmentt, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

Both the NFF and the Sports Ministry have been at loggerheads for over four years following an earlier court ruling directing the current NFF board to vacate office for another one led by Chris Giwa, who contested an election against the current President, Amaju Pinnick.

Rohr says that the imbroglio that ensued has affected the Super Eagles negatively.

“What I wish for the New Year is that we should stop the conflicts between the Nigeria Football Federation and the Sports Ministry,” Rohr told CSN in an exclusive interview.

Pinnick: My CAF Seat Will Bring Value To Nigerian Football

“We cannot succeed in a country when we are not together. We can only succeed when we are together. I saw this everywhere. In Burkina Faso, the Sports Minister was attending the team’s matches and he was even paying the salaries of the coaches, paying for trips and bonuses. Same in Gabon with Ali Bongo – he was a fan of football and the Sports minister Rene Demizur, a former player. I miss that here.”

The Super Eagles coach added: “The Federation is fighting to have a good organisation, find money and sponsors for football, they have to do this all alone. On the other side, there is a fight from the ministry. I don’t have anything against the Sports minister.

“I think he is a patriotic man, but I see that they are not together around us and we are a bit alone. When you don’t have solidarity from the politics and football officials, you cannot have it easy but we need that now.”

On how the conflict has affected his Super Eagles job, Rohr said: “We are worried about it because when we heard we could be suspended prior to the Seychelles game, I called the President of the NFF (Amaju Pinnick) and he said all will be well. We kept on with our job, but it affected our minds.

Dalung: President Buhari Can’t Defile Court Orders On NFF Crisis, DSS Excesses Will Be Sorted Out

“Then we hear someone is coming, he’s at the office with Police, but now I think on the surface its okay. But we still don’t have this collaboration. The NFF cannot pay to have these good pitches. These things are done by the government, they have a budget for that.

“We are behind Cameroon now in terms of structures. We are behind Gabon who now have six stadiums. They have beautiful stadia in Bitam and in Oyem. But we need the solidarity.”

At last, Pinnick has been exonerated. It seems like sport ministry has not be supportive to the NFF since the Pinnick and Dalung clash. The NFF has been left alone to finance the budgets of the national teams which seemed not have been easy for Pinnick. Now we see why he has made some questionable decisions to play super eagles matches on some poor pitches on the condition that the host govt will sponsor the team. The sportt ministry should let go of such acrimony and work to gether with the NFF,  at least not for their sakes but for the sake of the national teams and the fans who derive joy in seeing them develop  and do well.

  • Yeah @Isaac. Rohr was actually addressing that saboteur in boy’s scout attire called Dalung. Wonder why he’s still in charge of the sports ministry. First time I’m seeing a set of ministers that are not changed or rotated except they’re forced to resign by the law or court (not the public, as their oga doesn’t care about the opinion of the public).

at least a non-nigerian in person of Rohr has spoken so they all can see what they are not doing right and heed some advice

‘that saboteur in boy’s scout attire called Dalung.’

      Ha ha ha ha!

You crack me up big time Kel. Please be careful of how you address distinguished highly respected noble and incorruptible public officials in public space.

These are people, like Darling, that are serving their father land with distinction.

I really like reading your contributions. I don’t want you to be sued for defamation of character.(Lol)

Well spoken coach Rohr. That is Nigerians for you. Too many bosses in the office and I hope they settle the differences before the Afcon tournament. God bless Nigeria!!!

There will not be any agreement coming from that boy scout called Dolung. He supported Giwa because of his desires to deep his finger into the Federation Fund to enable him run for Governor’s office in Plateau State. Since Buhari wont fire him, they will all loose the elections next year and subsequently move out from Aso-Rock after they have lost. Dalung said he was lawyer. We later learnt he forged his School Certificate to enter the University. Solo and the crowned Buhari will soon depart from Aso Rock. The real Buhari died last year in London after a short illness. A guy called Jubril from Sudan have been made to look like our former president Buhari. The reason Solo Dalung was not get sacked in case he goes out there to revile the whole secret to the unsuspected Nigerians. I know where our dedicated Coach is coming from, The minister is a thief and would never do the right thing unless he gets what he wants–money — to thief from Federation Fund.

  • Hahahahaha lol tnx mr Rorh but i wouldnt be suprise to hear that u are been sacked, because of the truth u has said, our gouvernment hate this very very much i mean the truth, they will ask u who tell u to say it publicly, and then sack u.God bless u,tnk u very much for ur concern

    • Many African countries are waiting by the wings to grab Rohr at double the price Nigeria is paying. They also want magic ‘a game left to spare’ to all competition. So who will be the loser if he is sacked

  • president jubril could hv sacked darlung….if not some northerners around him, who made him to impersonate buhari. bt jubril go do well sha.

  • Despite all this politicing Nigeria have achieved the following:

Qualified and attended the world cup Russia 2018
Under 15 boys came second in Africa
Under 17 qualified for AFCON under 17 2019
Under 20 qualified for AFCON 2019,
Under 23 one step away from AFCON 2019,

Super eagles Qualified for AFCON 2019

Super falcons qualified for Women’s world cup 2019 and won AWCON 2018.

Where would we be if the sports ministry supported the NFF today??

Many thanks for highlighting these unbeatable attributes. Nigeria is the greatest Footballing Nation in Africa. This is not my opinion, statistic proved it.

  • Darlung is a cancer and a clog in the wheel of football development in this country, i just watched a downloaded video of our 2000 Nations cup final between Nigeria and Cameroon..i see patriotism, i see beautiful stadium, Pinnick came, Super eagles did not have even jercies, no sponsors, he tried his best, all those are in place now but Darlung wants to unstal a stooge.
no development plan , no renovation of our stadia nothing…only wants how Pinnick will leave the seat for unrepentant selfish Giwa (im sorry im not anyone’s supporter) but the obvious is there for all to see.

i pray Darlung never surface in the scheme of things anymore. A bad influence. Thank you Rohr
