Real Madrid put behind them the disappointment of going out at the hands of Leganes in the Copa del Rey in midweek with a convincing 4-1 win against Valencia at the Mestella in the Spanish LaLiga on Saturday.It was back-to-back defeats for Valencia in LaLiga following their 2-1 away loss to Las Palmas last weekend. Two first-half penalties converted by Cristiano Ronaldo and a goal each from Marcelo and Toni Kross secured the impressive win for champions Madrid who have struggled in the league this season.
Madrid took the lead in the 16th minute thanks to Ronaldo who scored from the penalty spot.
The reigning FIFA Best Player doubled Madrid’s lead again from the penalty spot in the 38th minute.
Valencia reduced the deficit in the 58th minute with Santi Mina getting on the score sheet.
With six minutes remaining, Marcelo extended Madrid’s lead, before Kroos put the game beyond doubt as he scored to make it 4-1.
Madrid, who still have a game in hand, remain fourth on 38 points, just two points behind third-placed Valencia.
