Morocco became the first team to crash out of the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup after they lost 1-0 to Portugal in Group B on Wednesday.
Cristiano Ronaldo was once again the hero for Portugal as his fourth minute header secured his side their first win of the tournament.
Morocco created several chances to get back in the game but they missed all against a poor Portugal side.
The first and only time Portugal and Morocco met was in the group stage at the 1986 World Cup in Mexico with Morocco winning 3-1.
Portugal have now gone temporarily top of Group B on four points while Morocco remain rooted in the bottom with no point.
Ronaldo has now scored all of Portugal’s four goals at this year’s World Cup following his hat-trick in the 3-3 draw against Spain.
Also, his goal against Morocco took his tally to 85 for Portugal and also saw him break the record for most international goals scored by a European player. The record was initially held by Hungarian great, the late Ferenc Puskas.
The second game of the group will see Iran take on Spain also on Wednesday.
Iran have three points after pipping Morocco 1-0 in their opening group game.
