Jose Mourinho believes Cristiano Ronaldo will be welcomed back to Old Trafford when Juventus visit but he will be determined to score. Manchester United have been drawn alongside Juve, Swiss outfit Young Boys and Spanish side Valencia in Group H in the Champions League this season, with Ronaldo’s return to take on his old club garnering the most attention.
The Portuguese superstar, who starred for United between 2003 and 2009, will be in the Juve squad that visits Old Trafford on October 23.
Mourinho says while he will be welcomed back and enjoy the reunion, he will also be desperate to put one over his old club, just like he did when he helped Real Madrid to a 3-2 aggregate victory at the last-16 stage in 2013.
Mourinho said on United’s official website: “I think he [Cristiano] likes to come. My feeling when we played with Real Madrid here was that he was happy to come back and was happy to play at Old Trafford, but he was also happy to score and to win.
“He comes with a Juventus shirt, he went to Juventus to win the Champions League, he comes to Old Trafford to score goals and to win the match, but Old Trafford likes him and Old Trafford will always react in a positive way to him, which is a great thing.”
