Rotherham United manager, Paul Warne, is delighted to see Semi Ajayi capped at international level by Nigeria while admitting the Super Eagles have the best kits around presently, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
Ajayi, a former Flying Eagles invitee, came on for Chidozie Awaziem at right back in the 73rd minute for his debut in last Saturday’s 2019 Africa Nations Cup qualifier against Seychelles. Nigeria won the encounter 3-0.
The former Arsenal and Cardiff defender also made a full appearance for the Super Eagles in Tuesday’s exhibition game against Liberia which ended 2-1 in favour of Nigeria.
“I’m well pleased for him sincerely. He’s (Ajayi) a brilliant kid and come on no end in the last 18 months. Nigeria have the best kits at the moment too! It’s recognition of how the lads are doing,” Warne said during his pre-match interview on Thursday ahead of their Saturday’s match against Derby.
“Semi went to Seychelles. All of the lads have had some good time away and spent it with their loved ones.”
Warne also gave his thought on Saturday’s clash with Derby County at the New York Stadium in South Yorkshire, England, assuring that his team is prepared.
“They are a good team who have recruited well. They’ve got a little bit of youth which they possibly haven’t had in recent years which is good for them,” he said.
“They have that mixture of experience and youthful energy. They’ll have a good season if they can keep everyone fit and happy. It’ll be a tough game but these are the ones the lads relish.”
“Win, lose or draw on Saturday, we box it off and prepare for the next game.”
Rotherham United are currently 15th in the English Championship and Ajayi is expected to make his seventh league appearance for the Millers against Derby.
