Rotherham United manager, Paul Warne, is determined to hold on to Nigeria defender, Semi Ajayi and the club’s other top stars beyond the winter transfer window, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
The centre-back has been one of the standout performers for The Millers in the Championship this season and featured in all 21 league games.
Ajayi has also earned international recognition with Nigeria as he was part of the Super Eagles side that booked a place in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
He has however been linked with a move away from Rotherham United in January with several Premier League clubs rumoured to be interested in his services.
Warne is keen for the towering defender to remain with the club and help in their fight against relegation.
“I don’t really want to lose anyone but I only want to bring in people that want to come in and play. This window might pass by with no ins or outs and that’s fine with me. There’s nowhere on the pitch that we’re lacking talent,” Warne told reporters on Thursday ahead of Rotherham United’s Saturday home clash against Reading.
“If there is an opportunity to improve us, we’ll take it but we won’t be making drastic changes.
“My personal attitude that we don’t want to sell anybody, which is the same as we had when Wardy was here. We convinced him to stay to the summer and he left with our best wishes,” the Rotherham United manager stated.
