Rivers United goalkeeper Rotimi Sunday has boldly predicted that new Lagos teams in the Nigeria Professional Football League, Mountains of Fire Football Club (MFM) and Ikorodu United will not be awed by the pedigree of teams in the Nigerian top league as the the second round of matches in the 2015/2016 season were played on Wednesday.
Speaking to Completesportsnigeria.com at the Agege Stadium Lagos after Rivers United's midweek game against MFM which the Olukoya Boys won 2-1, the veteran goalkeeper said he was impressed by the standard of football showcased by the new boys in the top flight.
"The performance of MFM today (Wednesday) shows that they will not be intimidated by the big boys. They were difficult opponents for us. I think they will shock most people this season.
"Their strikers were good and you could see their goals were good. We defended well and tried to get an equaliser but it didn't come. Good luck to them."
Rotimi a veteran campaigner in the Nigerian league refused to single out any MFM player for praises, but considers the Lagos side as one that will be watched out for.
"They have good players, from defence to attack and the attention will now be on them. They should keep working hard, the season is still young," the former U-23 keeper further told Completesportsnigeria.com.
Ifeanyi Ifeanyi and Olatubosun Sikiru were the scorers for MFM in the 18th and 24th minutes respectively while Rivers United's Fredrick Obomate reduced the margin in the 57th minute.
