Super Eagles defender Ola Aina made his 36th English Championship apprearance for Hull City in Saturday’s 3-0 defeat away to Birmingham, while Nigerian forward Sone Aluko was in action for 52 minutes in his 28th apprearance for Reading who lost 3-2 loss to Norwich, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Nigeria centre-back Leon Balogun returned to Mainz 05’s starting line-up on Saturday as they slumped to a 3-0 Bundesliga defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt.
His compatriot Anthony Ujah made his first Bundesliga start (fourth appearance) since his return to Mainz in January and was on for 55 minutes before he was replaced by Yuyo Muto.
The game was Balogun’s 13th appearance this season and his 50th Bundesliga appearance for Mainz since he joined the club.
In Turkey, William Troost-Ekong returned to the starting line-up after missing two league games for Bursaspor who edged Sivasspor 1-0.
The game was his 23rd of the season. Ekong has scored twice so far this term.
His international teammate, Mikel Agu, was also in action for the whole hgame while Abdullahi Shehu, who has made seven appearances this season since joining Bursaspor in January, was left out of the matchday squad.
Super Eagles midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo missed Las Palmas’ 1-1 LaLiga draw away to Deportivo La Coruna.
Etebo has played seven games and provided one assist for Las Palmas since he joined on a six-month loan deal from Portuguese club Feirense.
Nigeria Rio 2016 star Imoh Ezekiel was an unused substitute in the match.
Nigerian youngster Victor Osimhen made his 10th Bundesliga apprearance for Wolfsburg this season, coming off the substitutes bench to replace Riechedly Bazoer in Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at home to Schalke 04.
Osimhen is yet to score for Wolfsburg since he joined in January 2017.
