Roundup: Chukwueze Bags 1st LaLiga Goal For Villarreal; Onuachu, Adegbenro Also On Target In Europe

Former Flying Eagles winger and Super Eagles invitee Samuel Chukwueze scored his first LaLiga goal for Villarreal in their 2-2 draw away at Rayo Vallecano on Sunday, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

It was Chukwueze’s second goal in six appearances for Villarreal this season.

Chukwueze who is expected in the Super Eagles camp for this weekend’s 2019 Africa Cup Of Nations qualifier against South Africa in Johannesburg opened scoring for his team in the 33rd minute.

The lively forward received a cross from the right, controlled it and drove into the box, ghosted past a defender before smashing home.

The match ended 2-2 and Villarreal remain in 16th place with 11 points from 12 matches.

In France, Samuel Kalu started Bordeaux’s goalless draw at home to Caen in Sunday’s Ligue 1 clash at the Matmut Atlantique Stadium.

Kalu was replaced on the hour mark by Nicolas De Preville.

In Belgium, Anderson Esiti played for 89 minutes as nine-man Gent lost 2-0 away to RSC Anderlecht. He was subbed off for Franko Andrijasevic.

Imoh Ezekiel was handed a cameo appearance for Kortrijk in their 2-0 loss at home to Standard Liege who introduced Uche Agbo at halftime for Gojko Cimirot.

Ezekiel replaced Hannes Van Der Bruggen in the 85th minute of the defeat. Abdul Ajagun was an unused substitute.

In Denmark, Paul Onuachu bagged his ninth league goal of the season for FC Midtjylland who spanked Vejle Boldklub 5-0 on Sunday. Onuachu scored in the 24th minute to double FC Midtjylland’s lead.

In Norway, Samuel Adegbenro scored in his second consecutive game for newly crowned Norwegian champions Rosenborg who defeated troubled IK Start 1-0.

IK Start introduced Aremu Afeez for the last 12 minutes of the encounter, but Adeleke Akinyemi played for 80 minutes.

Adegbenro scored the only goal of the game after 28 minutes.

Stephen Odey starred for 50 minutes before he was replaced by Assan Ceesay in FC Zurich’s 2-1 home loss to Sion in a Swiss League match also played on Sunday.
