Roundup: Moses, Iwobi, Abdullahi On Target;  Balogun Missing‎ As Ujah Features As Sub For Mainz

By Johnny Edward‎: Nigerian forwards, Alex Iwobi and Victor Moses ended their goal droughts in the English Premier League for Arsenal and Chelsea respectively on Saturday, (CSN) reports.

Iwobi, making his 14th EPL appearance for Arsenal this season, doubled the Gunners’ lead in the 10th minute as Arsene Wenger’s side spanked Crystal Palace 4-1 at the Emirates. The goal was Iwobi’s first since October 1st 2017 in the Gunners 2-0 win over Brighton.

At the Amex Stadium, Victor Moses scored his first EPL goal of the season in Chelsea’s 4-0 thumping of Brighton Hove Albion.

The goal was Moses’ first in the last 40 EPL games. The Nigerian international has made 17th appearance this season for the Blues.

At the Vicarage Road, Wilfred Ndidi made his 23rd appearance for Leicester City who defeated Watford 2-0 on Saturday. His compatriot Kelechi Iheanacho was an unused substitute in the encounter while Isaac Success was not listed in the match day squad for the Hornets.

In the English Championship, Sone Aluko played for 60 minutes before he was replaced by Roy Beerens in Reading’s 1-0 home loss to Brentford. The game was his 23rd appearance in the English Championship.

At the Stadium of Light, Ola Aina made his 26th appearances in the English Championship this season for Hull City who lost 1-0 away to Sunderland.

In Cyprus, Abdullahi Shehu scored his first goal of the season for Anorthosis Famagusta who edges Ethnikos Achnas 3-1.​

​The goal was Abdullahi’s first in 11 months and one week. He last scored for Anorthosis Famagusta in their 4-1 win over Ermis Aradippou on the 28 of January, 2017.​

Abdullahi has made 19 league appearances for Anorthosis Famagusta who are second in the log with 44 points from 21 games one point adrift defending champions APOEL Nicosia who have 45 points from 19 games.

In Spain, Kayode Olanrewaju returned to Girona’s matchday squad on Saturday, but was an unused substitute in his side’s 1-1 draw at Atletico Madrid in a LaLiga Santander clash at the Wanda Metropolitano. Olanrewaju has made 12 La Liga Santander appearances this season.

In Germany, Anthony Ujah was an unused substitute for FSV Mainz who lost 3-2 at home to VfB Stuttgart. His compatriot Leon Balogun was not included in the matchday squad.

Ujah has made one appearance for Mainz since his return to the club, while Balogun has made seven Bundesliga appearances so far this term missing 12 games, featured in eight games as unused substitute.

In the LaLiga 1|2|3 (the second division in Spain), Ramon Azeez made his 25th‎ appearance for Lugo who recorded a 3-1 home win over Sporting Gijon. Azreez has scored twice so far this season.

At the Volkswagen Arena, Victor Osimhen made his sixth substitute appearance for Wolfsburg who lost 3-1 at home to Eintracht Frankfurt. Osimhen came on in the 85th minute for Joshua Guilavogui.

In Turkey, Okechukwu Azubuike featured for the entire duration of Yeni Malatyaspor’s goalless draw away to Osmanlispor FK who featured Raheem Lawal and Aminu Umar from the start. While Lawal lasted for 32 minutes, Umar featured for the entire duration of the encounter.
