Brazil defender Danilo has been ruled out for the rest of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia due to an ankle injury.
The Manchester City full-back has featured just once for the South Americans in Russia, playing in his team’s draw with Switzerland in their opening game.
But a left ankle injury means Danilo, 26, will miss the rest of the tournament, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) confirmed late on Thursday.
“Danilo suffered a left ankle injury and will not have time to recover until the end of the cup,” the CBF said in a statement.
“In conversation with the commission, he will remain with the team in Russia. We cheer for your recovery.”
Brazil will face Belgium in their quarter-final tie in Kazan on Friday (today).
The right-back position, however, has been a constant source of worry for coach Tite before the World Cup began.
Starting full-back Dani Alves was laid low in May from a knee injury incurred in PSG’s Coupe de France victory over Les Herbiers.
And after Danilo’s injury, third-choice Fagner, who plies his trade for Tite’s old club Corinthians, has been propelled into a starting position.Fastest Paying Betting Site in Nigeria: Grab your 140% First Time Deposit Bonus Now — www.Sportybet.Com Copyright © 2021 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
