Former Super Eagles coach Samson Siasia is one of the eight candidates shortlisted for the vacant position of head coach of the Rwandan senior national team, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
Sisia has not been in a coaching job since taking the Nigeria U-23s to a bronze medal finish in the men's football event of the Rio 2016 Olympics in August.
The other coaches in consideration for the Rwanda post are former Algeria coach George Leekens, Antoine Hey, Jose Rui Lopes, Paul Put, Peter James Butler, Wilfred Schafer and Raoul Savoy.
According to the official website of the Rwandan Football Association, a pre-selection process was held on Tuesday February 14, 2017at FERWAFA headquarters to pick the final shortlist.
According to Ferwafa.rw the shortlisted candidates will be contacted for interviews.
President of the Rwandan Football Association Vincent Nzamwita also revealed that the new coach will be named before the end of the month in time to select the team that will play against Tanzania in the second round of the CHAN 2018 Kenya qualifiers in July.
He also revealed that the FERWAFA's executive committee will sit and decide on the modalities to pick the most suitable coach for Amavubi.
"Our target is to get a new coach at the start of next month (March). We have shortlisted coaches who have what we have asked for and now we will start negotiations with the person we will have chosen," FERWAFA president Vincent Nzamwita said.
