By Izuchukwu Okosi:
Following his sacking by the Management of IfeanyiUbah FC, Bulgarian-born coach Mitko Dobrev will go on a break from football coaching, completesportsnigeria.com was told on Tuesday.
The Nnewi side and only lost their first home league game last Sunday – a 1-0 defeat to Wikki Tourists in a Week 14 game.
IfeanyiUbah FC have already appointed former Golden Eaglets and Flying Eagles coach, John Obuh, to replace Dobrev as first team coach.
Consequently, completesportsnigeria.com can exclusively report that even if offers come the way of Dobrev, he will not consider them.
A source close to the coach who pleaded anonymity spoke to completesportsnigeria.com on Dobrev's sacking and his plans going forward.
"Coach Dobrev is presently depressed about his sacking," the source, a close confidant of the Bulgarian, said. "He needs time to rest and reflect on this matter.
"He is not thinking of coaching any club now even if offers come his way. He is thinking of going on a sabbatical and could go back to Bulgaria soon. Its not only when the season ends that coaches could go on break.
Completesportsnigeria.com pressed this source for confirmation of any severance payment to Dobrev and he responded: "I can't say that for now. The coach is waiting to hear from the Management of the club.
"You cannot unveil a new coach and make the other believe he still has a job, that's it. They have made their choice of sacking Dobrev."
Contrary to a report in some sections of the media (not Completesportsnigeria.com) that Dobrev was redeployed to the youth team of Ifeanyi Ubah FC, our source emphatically denied any such arrangement was mooted.
"Not at all. There was no such plans. Dobrev, youth team? No. The man just wants to take a break from recent events," he concluded.
